Three days before the winners of the LVMH Prize 2024 were revealed, Patricio Campillo, founder and creative director of his fashion brand Campillo, made his debut at New York Fashion Week. Being one of the semi-finalists of the prestigious global competition, the designer born and raised in Mexico landed in the city ready to immerse us in his creative universe, proving that he has a lot to say through fashion. His Spring 2025 collection connected us with his roots, his identity, and with an evident savoir-faire. Photographer Alexander Fischer was backstage; you can find the images below.
Since creating his first collection in 2015 and officially launching his brand in 2017, Campillo has been paying homage to Mexican culture through a contemporary perspective in his designs. Championing a sense of Latin pride and connecting deeply with his life experiences, his country of origin, and the Charro culture, the designer felt ready to take the next step and debut with a fashion show at New York Fashion Week. It is precisely in this city where the designer notices a powerful Latin voice that seems to be finding its place, and it is here where he acknowledges he would like to continue presenting his collections in the next few seasons.
In his latest collection, presented last Saturday morning at Public Hotel New York, we saw how the aesthetic elements he had shown the previous season were still present while being transformed, freeing themselves from constraints and resulting in a very exciting creative burst. “One of my inspirations for this collection comes from my fascination with Mexican volcanoes. They have profoundly influenced our ecosystems, cities, belief systems, and local mythology, and they even played a role in inspiring the postmodern architectural movement of the early 60s in the Pedregal neighbourhood,” the Mexican designer said when asked about the starting point of his latest collection.
Staying true to his essence without adapting to every single trend but building a solid brand identity, he continues passing the test of time while offering a modern and fresh look in which culture, nature, and fashion coexist, consolidating his presence on the international scene.
