Benjamin Steer has just unveiled his sophomore EP, Figuring It Out. Across five tracks, the project captures the turbulence of your early twenties, when love can feel both cinematic and uncertain, and clarity often arrives only in fragments. Romantic without being sentimental, the record moves between moments of openness and self-reflection, offering a portrait of an artist refining his voice while speaking to experiences that many listeners will recognise.
Opening with Oh Darling, the EP moves from light, unguarded affection into more introspective territory with Sweat Off Our History and the emotive No One Wants To Die Alone. Earlier singles such as Muted Colours and Sinner, both included in the tracklist, have already found strong traction online, helping Steer reach nearly one million monthly listeners and over 14 million total streams.
Originally from Washington D.C., Steer moved to Scotland to study Economics at St Andrews, where he began writing music during long winters. One early track, Muted Colours, caught the attention of label Artist Theory (home to Nieve Ella, Sam Ryder, and The Guest List), leading to a record deal and a move to London. The decision marked a career shift away from a planned corporate path in New York towards full-time music.
In the past year, Steer has supported artists including Myles Smith, AJR, and Kingfishr, and has appeared at festivals such as Sound of Nashville and Reeperbahn. His debut London headline show at The Grace sold out weeks in advance, underlining a fast-growing audience both online and at live shows. With Figuring It Out, Steer continues to develop a style that combines accessible, melodic songwriting with an openness that resonates with listeners; a combination that has helped him expand his presence across the UK and Europe.
