After covering Amsterdam Fashion Week over the past few editions, we had already identified a platform with considerable potential in a city the international creative industry seems increasingly eager to watch. This year, we wanted to get even closer. For the first time, METAL joined the official programme, while our photographer Nico Quinteros documented the week through his lens, moving between selected backstages including Tess van Zalinge, Fortanier, and Lichting, as well as the streets, to capture what’s happening in the Dutch capital right now.
Street style deserves a special place. It remains one of AFW’s strongest assets and one of the clearest expressions of why we keep looking towards Amsterdam. People here dress incredibly well, with an ease that feels difficult to manufacture. The diversity is organic and personal style remains personal, even during Fashion Week. You see people you want to photograph because something about them catches your eye, but it doesn’t feel forced or like they’re trying to be somebody they’re not.
Together with Pulitzer Amsterdam, we also celebrated METAL’s 20th anniversary with an intimate gathering during the week. But hey, we told you all about it already. Now, we present you with a visual diary by Quinteros taking you from the streets to backstage and front row, capturing the essence and character of the latest edition of Amsterdam Fashion Week.
