Alex Cecil steps into a new season of his career with two major moves: the launch of his Brooklyn-based label superfine and the release of his latest single, Chismosa. The New York–born DJ and producer, once a classically trained cellist performing at Carnegie Hall, has built a reputation for fusing melodic depth with club-ready energy. That balance has taken him to stages from Burning Man and Croatia’s Hideout Festival to Amsterdam’s A’dam Tower and NYC’s House of Yes, while his productions have landed on labels including Lost On You, 925 Music, Nein Records and Deep Playa.
Out now, Chismosa shows a sultrier, vocal-driven side to Cecil’s genre-fluid catalogue. Featuring NatX and released via NiteLite Music, it leans into hypnotic grooves and late-night tension without losing the emotive undertones that have become a hallmark of his sound. The track sets the tone for what’s ahead as Cecil prepares to introduce superfine records at Amsterdam Dance Event on October 23 during the Sounds of Khemit at Zum Barbarossa, a night built on intentional, collaborative artistry.
Set to officially launch in November, superfine will champion groove-heavy, genre-fluid releases shaped by a focus on curation, connection and forward-looking club culture. Co-founded with Alexis Maragkos (founder of the AIONIA collective), the label aims to bring contrast and cohesion together under a single creative vision, spotlighting distinctive voices that push the boundaries of the dancefloor experience. Sharing the ADE bill with Wild Dark B2B Ariaano, Foelie, Lazarusman and more, Cecil positions superfine as both a home for his own productions and a platform for like-minded artists.
Cecil’s debut single, Alpha Lupi, once topped Traxsource’s techno chart, paving the way for collaborations and line-ups alongside DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex, Bob Moses and Paco Osuna. With Chismosa gaining momentum and superfine ready for its first chapter, he steps forward not just as a DJ/producer but as a curator shaping the sounds he wants to hear in clubs worldwide.
