Exhibiting a repertoire of great artistic and conceptual richness, A Better Mistake reaffirms once again the importance of interdisciplinary work in the creation of discourses that go beyond fashion through their latest Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The result is as interesting as the ideas contributed by those involved.
As the founders of A Better Mistake have already shared with us in an interview we had not too long ago, the commitment of their firm is to be a space where fashion, art, music, and all kinds of creative disciplines can converge in a safe and free zone for expression. This season with Eternal, the same thing happens, in a collection where looks of different characteristics and silhouettes coincide, following the common thread proposed by several creators, exploring the intersection between the physical and digital worlds.
The New York-based artist Running File is responsible for the creation of the print that gives the collection its name, which is present on various garments such as quilted jackets or fitted dresses. The organic cotton denim looks are also modified by applying the Eternal print, but this time being hand sprayed on the fabric. The Hero print, by the same artist, can be seen on shirts-and-shorts twinsets, as well as on hoodies or t-shirts. The usual codes of the house can also be found within the collection, like the popular pyjama looks or the Touch Me garments made with jacquard knit, in a variation of neon green, appropriate for the concept.
The End is Near is also part of this proposal, with two of the most striking looks thanks to their stitched bold statements and equally bold aesthetic: a custom-made dress and a sci-fi face mask paired with a skirt. Everything is handmade. The technological installation Alter Dimensions and the music of two Berlin-based DJs, Alva and Raven, served as a backdrop to the presentation in which the looks were not displayed in a conventional way, but instead, dancers from Milan's major international theatre, La Scala, brought the garments to life, in an interaction between reality and artificiality that complements a collection that equally navigates between both worlds.
