Woolwich Public Market in London is hosting one of the most pioneering showcase of creative cooperation until June 24. The exhibition Dreamachine is part of the UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK project taking place across the United Kingdom during this whole year, produced by some of the brightest minds in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths to offer a collective experience. As a visitor, you’ll take a seat and close your eyes to dive yourself into the extraordinary multisensorial experience driven by stimulating sounds and lambent lights.
Beholding this project —inspired by the artist and inventor Brion Gysin’s ‘first artwork to be experienced with your eyes closed’ in 1959— in the heart of Woolwich during the coming weeks may bring you to an exploration of the limitless power of the human brain, the ways we each perceive stimulations, how this might determine our lives and who we become.
Along with Cardiff Council, Northern Ireland Science Festival, Edinburgh Science, and Edinburgh International Festival, and in association with Woolwich Works and W5 Belfast, the live experience will also be presented in Belfast and Edinburgh shortly. A New Direction collectively with the British Science Association and UNICEF UK will invite children to join together and discover how we create and in which way do we perceive what is surrounding us by a UK-wide schools programme.
