While the fashion industry moves forward at a frantic pace, looking decisively to the future and creating trends that prevail for a few weeks until it’s time to destroy them and welcome the next one, Prisma stops for a moment to analyse their environment, think before taking action, and look respectfully to the past to bring it back to the present through updated codes. The new menswear collection from the Greek-born brand, Erevos, is inspired by the ancient Greek deity Erebus, as detailed in Hesiod's Theogony. Welcome on a trip to the origin, free of artifice.
Prisma is very clear about its principles, and its vision does not depend on the trends or celebrities of the moment. Their values are deeper and based on local culture—Greece being their greatest inspiration for what they do—to translate it into a universal language that makes sense in the current context. Their latest launch, Erevos, which they refer to as “an exploration of the human psyche’s deepest recesses,” embodies the spirit of the subsidiary brand of Modus Vivendi Co., built upon its 30-year-old history.
The journey they invite us to take part in with their latest release begins with the genesis of darkness itself, featuring clean, unembellished silhouettes in black and deep grey, symbolising the void from which all creation springs. We must remember that this collection is inspired by Erebus, created by the merging of Chaos and Gaia, who is the personification of deep darkness and shadow and symbolises the unseen and the mysterious, so darkness is the fundamental pillar on which the new launch is built. A reminder that even in the absence of light, there is form, structure, and profound, haunting beauty.
Our next stop on this adventure is the elements of distortion and illusion with fabrics that shimmer and shift under light, creating a sense of movement and transformation. The darkness begins to take on new forms, presenting itself in different states, as in the semi-transparent mesh top paired with tailored shorts, striking a delicate balance between concealment and revelation. There is no shortage of layering and asymmetry, with pieces like a jacket featuring an oversized collar and angular cuts , which leads us to our final destination, where Erebus’s influence reaches its zenith.
Here the darkness intensifies through bold shapes and dramatic contrasts, with a standout piece being an oversized suit jacket with exaggerated shoulders and flowing lines. The collection also includes tops in oversized fits with prints and minimal designs, light denim and suit jackets, denim trousers and shorts inspired by street style, hoodies, leggings, and cycling shorts, and is completed with the Erevos underwear, swimwear and accessories following the dark, minimalist aesthetic. The collection is now on sale, and you can find all the details on the Prisma website.
