Having spent quite a bit of this year on the road, with Giant Rooks around Europe at the start of the year and then Sea Girls around the UK, Oliver Keane now shares his dreamy, self-produced new single Give Me A Reason. The alt singer-songwriter and producer from Derby, who has been making a name for himself as an emerging singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer since he launched, continues to immerse us in his musical universe with this new release, which started as a ballad and lived in that space for a lot of versions until he shaped the final version that we can now listen to.
"I’d been listening to a lot of softer indie, such as Spacey Jane, Del Water Gap, Sam Fender, which inspired the huge chorus. "It was fun to re-work the song and be able to put time into the instrumentation. I'm proud of the song and the journey it's been through," says Keane, who grew up in a house full of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, and whose sound was initially influenced by guitar music, when asked about the process of creating the song he's sharing today, Give Me A Reason.
After having released last month the euphoric guitar anthem Romeo, which did not go unnoticed and having already gained significant experience supporting the likes of The Snuts, GAYLE, Only the Poets and The Academic, the artist consolidates himself with each new release as one of the UK's most exciting new prospects. Reactions to his new song were not long in coming on social media, and many fans waited till midnight to be the first to listen to the single. "Excuse me, I was studying and wanted to go to bed but now I have to stay up," and "I had to wake up at 5 am but okay, Ollie, for you everything," are some of the fans’ comments we find on his Instagram profile.
