Since she debuted at Paris Fashion Week in 2018, Marine Serre has continued to consolidate her hypnotic Ecofuturist vision embodied in what she calls futurewear. A long-distance race that critics have not stopped appreciating, in which the young creator found herself halfway with the most terrifying global pandemic in recent times. A phenomenon that led her to give life to her Core Fall/Winter 2021 collection, built on a documentary, a book and a ready-to-wear collection with which she decided to connect with the essence of her brand. She now presents her spectacular campaign.
Marine Serre could be considered as the most connected and disconnected designer from this earthly world. On the one hand, her futuristic aesthetics have invited us to travel to other worlds, between cataclysms and catastrophes, making fashion a second skin that has always incorporated a deep meaning that transcended aesthetics. On the other hand, her commitment to sustainability, her defence of diversity and her proven foresight for the future – her pieces turned into protective suits seemed to predict the health crisis that was to come –proves that she is one of the most conscious and linked designers to the current space-time.
Just take a look at her campaign for her Core collection to realise that her style is different from everyone else's. Perhaps it is because Serre is clear that the time to act has come, and there is no turning back. “This last year has been difficult for everyone, but there is no longer any question about it, things must be done differently. We want to bring Ecofuturism to the streets,” says the creator who embodies the feelings of a whole generation, tired of waiting for answers that never come and determined to change things to make the world a better place. And within this new ecosystem that she proposes, she takes advantage of the great new technologies.
Trying to make us participate in the DNA of her most personal project, the designer set up a web portal precisely to immerse ourselves in her new collection. It is through short clips in which models, who star in the campaign that has just seen the light of day, perform different menial tasks. From going shopping (there is no shortage of masks signed by Marine Serre with her most iconic print) to a walk through the streets of Paris, the stories, disconnected from fashion trends, let us see her captivating creative universe first-hand. And we can't wait to find out its next chapter.
