With the Olympic Games just around the corner, Pharrell Williams takes the UNESCO headquarters in Paris for the Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring/Summer 2025 show. The collection transcends fashion, becoming a celebration of humanity, peace, and the unifying spirit of global togetherness.
Pharrell Williams strikes again! On the very first day of Paris Fashion Week, the Creative Director presented the latest collection of menswear in a triumphant way. As it’s expected, some of the most famous celebrities were spotted at the show, including Victor Wembanyama, Pusha-T, No Malice, Tyshawn Jones Mahmood, Burna Boy, Central Cee, TEMS, Sabrina Carpenter, A$AP NAST, Wizkid, Stormzy, Maluma, Swae Lee, and more. Opening the show with a cinematic prelude directed by the creative collective Air Afrique, the collection featured graphics and patterns they contributed to. Set in La Maison de l’UNESCO, the show is an exploration of unity in human diversity and visions of the future, all of which complement the savoir-faire and vision of the Maison.
For this collection, Williams envisions Louis Vuitton as a unifying force with a collection designed to "illustrate the degrees of similarities which bind us across the globe," defined by the slogan "Le monde est à vous" ("The world is yours"), spotted on the runway. Taking inspiration from archetypal figures associated with crossing borders, from pilots to diplomats, the silhouettes look towards traditional workwear and sportswear, including a football kit emblazoned with "LVRS United." A subtle selection of all-black looks and statement patterns and textures seen in previous collections, including the Snake-o-Flage and Map-o-Flage motifs that reference the spliced Damier-and-camouflage prints, are some of the highlights.
Every piece is a microcosm, bursting with elaborate details. Buttons become miniature jewels, adorned with world maps, planes, and shimmering pearls; piping transforms into delicate garlands, while embroidery techniques take centre stage, with crystals and pearls forming fantastical checks and a windowpane Damier pattern. The collection is a love letter to travel and adventure; aviator caps with pilot pins, berets adorned with crystals, and cowboy hats reimagined in the season's palette, complete with Monogram crystal chains. Even the Crush Beanies whisper of faraway lands, appearing in Damier, sequined Damoflage, and crystal Monogram.
Luxury meets practicality with translucent, crystal-embellished socks and leather gloves that nod to classic spy films with their moto details and pearl accents. Silk scarves unfurl like maps, adorned with world maps, the brand's signature Map-o-Flage, or Parisian streetscapes. Classic ties and bowties add a touch of formality, while silky bandeaus and opera scarves whisper elegance.
The statement bags of Louis Vuitton take centre stage, reimagined in supple leather with a slightly larger Monogram. Icons like the Alma, the Christopher, and the Neverfull are reborn, while the Danube, Nile, Amazon, and Bastille join the party. A dazzling Keepall emerges, fully encrusted in rhinestones, while the Speedy P9 takes a vibrant turn in "faded fluorescent colours as if blanched by the sun." Travel is at the heart of the collection, with the Silhouette bags showcasing luggage tag outlines and the new Horizon Aluminium completing Pharrell’s vision.
