"Everything is possible", the major solo exhibition by Art Shaman Matthew Stone, celebrates our lives as art, presenting the optimism with love in contemporary society.
Graduated from Camberwell Art School in 2004, Matthew Stone firstly emerged as a frontman of south London art collective !WOWOW! and immediately established himself as one of the most prominent artists in our generation. Recently his exhibitions and performances have taken place at the Baltic, the Royal Academy, the ICA and Tate Britain, and The Sunday Times chose him to be a number one in the arts section of their 'Power players under 30' list.
However, regardless of all the reputations he has gained, he does declares Everything is possible & Love changes everything and Everybody is an artist & Everything is art in his latest exhibition. Inspired by a conversation about art and life with friends after a night out, he regards kindness as "the only radical act in a world largely defined by cruelty and destruction", and therefore praises "a love that finds its feet in a kindness that is more powerful than violence".
With love, everything is possible in our lives, and everything in our lives can be art. His new body of work shaped by the interlinking of performance, photography and sculpture, evokes the infinite possibility and creative potential in our lives, as the back of his head clearly shows us.
The exhibition Everything is possible runs until 5th October, at La Scatola Gallery, 1 Snowden Street, London EC2A 2DQ. Here are snaps from the private view.
