2023 has been the most prolific year so far in Enamour’s career. With several singles, remixes, and even an EP under his arm, the Los Angeles-based DJ and producer has kept himself busy these past twelve months. And today, he wraps up the year with his newest release, a remix of Felix Raphael’s and Fabian Sprungk’s 2022 song, Close.
For those of you who might’ve not listened to it, the original Close is a beautifully melodic song that blends hypnotic vocals, electronic beats, and string arrangements. In his new remix, Enamour keeps the track’s dreamy core intact and gives it a new dimension by adding more layers of howling bass synths and crisp percussion. Speaking of how it came to be, the multi-faceted artist explains: “When Felix asked me to remix a track from his label, I dove into the catalogue and discovered Close, which stood out to me with its dark and brooding vocal. I envisioned giving it a tougher melodic techno makeover, perfect for those peak-time moments. Happy to report it’s been a highlight of every set I’ve played over the summer.”
And he’s played it extensively, that’s for sure. Only in December, he has several gigs in London, Miami, New York, and Chicago, and 2024 is starting to get booked too, with upcoming dates in Mexico, for example. Becoming a staple in major clubs and festivals worldwide, especially known for his progressive techno, Michael Gold aka Enamour is building a strong reputation and identity as a DJ and producer. His remix of Close, released via Felix Raphael’s imprint YION, is testament to that, and it follows a stellar set of previous releases on other leading labels including Last Night On Earth, Get Physical, Rose Avenue, Purified, Anjunadeep, and Factory 93, to name a few.
