With over seventy looks, Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection was quite long to process. But as usual, Glenn Martens’ genius makes it easy and exciting. What first caught everyone’s attention was the impressive stage where the runway show took place, which was created from almost fifteen thousand kilos of denim scraps to, in the words of the brand, “highlight Diesel’s commitment to circularity in production.” After the initial shock, the audience was drawn into Glenn’s fantastic world were models wore crazy coloured lenses and sported denim in all its glory—distressed, fringed, laser-cut, and more. Photographer Alexander Fischer was there to capture them all, and here’s an exclusive look at the behind the scenes.
In a recent Instagram post, the Creative Director of the brand stated: “This is the disruption of Diesel: we are pushing for circularity in our production as hard as we push the elevation of design.” This is something they’ve been working on for the past years, but as new consumers demand brands to be more conscious and produce more sustainably, the issue has become one of the main pillars for those who want to continue to cater to youth. Glenn Martens clearly does that in a way that only he could: an immersive show full of denim scraps and, of course, his unique way of treating denim as a canvas to paint a universe so attractive that we all want to live in—this time, inspired by sci-fi.
For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, Martens envisions his fans in super mini shorts, distressed (some, almost destroyed) pieces like pants, dresses, tops, and even two-piece suits, and lots of fringes, be it in the collars of jackets and blazers as well as shorts. There is also a lot of mix-and-match play going on, where heavy textures are paired with lighter ones, different prints go hand in hand, and beige denim goes along with blue denim. As usual, most of the looks exude a sort sexiness and coolness that feel bold yet effortless. And that’s the magic of having someone as Glenn Martens as creative director.
