This week, from 21st until 26th of February, Madrid welcomes the Art Week. Although the main event is ARCO, Spain’s biggest contemporary art fair, there are so many interesting alternatives: the third edition of Casa Leibniz converted this year in Salón Leibniz and relocated in ARCO headquarters; the second edition of Drawing Room; the new and welcomed Hybrid Art Fair & Festival and the usual ARCO satellites, Just Mad and Art Madrid. As if that were not enough, all of them come with special shows in galleries, as well as the usual parallel main fair activities.
Salón Leibniz
Former Casa Leibniz moves from beautiful Santa Bárbara Palace in Chueca to aseptic IFEMA stand 9G01. Maintaining the same concept to previous two editions they invite a number of artists, poets and writers in a program of conversations where they will not talk about their works but about different aspects of their lives as creators. There will also be events and presentations of different publications and every day, starting on Wednesday 22nd, and until Sunday, an artist will intervene the living room space.

Hybrid
Hybrid Art Fair & Festival will open for the first time its doors during the weekend, from 24th till 26th of February, in an alternative exhibition space, the rooms of the Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara. Hybrid will host a transdisciplinary program of activities with music and live performances. 34 independent art spaces, both profit and non-profit –galleries, project spaces, artist platforms or collectives– are participating with a wide variety of local and international projects of emerging art, which emphasizes the hybridization of disciplines.

Drawing Room
The drawing and its codes are currently experiencing a vibrant evolution, that is why Drawing Room’s second edition –after a successful start last year– presents contemporary drawing, at Velázquez Street number twelve, through the projects of 37 artists, presented by 21 galleries invited by the curatorial committee. The galleries attentive to the changes include drawing in their programs and the most perceptive and dynamic collectors and museums integrate it in its collections.

Art Madrid celebrates its twelfth edition in its habitual site, the Glass Gallery of the Centro Cibeles. The General section, with around a quarantine of exhibitors, shows the historical avantgarde, ultra-quoted and consecrated artists accompanied by new promises and ‘emerging’ artists. The special One Project section, which shows eight different projects, reflects on the concepts of territory, displacement and identity.

In this eighth edition celebrated in its usual headquarters, COAM, College of Architects of Madrid, JustMad will be presenting galleries and artists from 14 countries through 28 exhibitors. The fair presents itself as an emerging art fair and transversally includes a variety of creative fields: fashion, design, art editions as well as avantgarde sections such as experimental and digital and electronic art.
