Guy Bourdin is undoubtedly one of the greatest fashion photographers of all time. Yet, behind his bizarre and seductive narratives some dark themes laid. Murder and violence – specifically against women – are depicted in lots of his advertisement campaigns for Charles Jourdan; they were as beautiful as they were disruptive. In 19xx, this ad for the shoemaker ended up with a glamourous girl killed by a banal painting – a result, perhaps, of the troubles he was experiencing in his personal relationships. As cynical as this could appear, no one dared to sell fashion that way, and that's exactly why Guy Bourdin achieved creating an indelible mark on fashion photography.
