A sad song is less sad if you put that 90’s beat on top. This is what Sailor & I do with Tears, the new single out today. You might cry when you listen to the lyrics but at the same time, you'll dance to the rhythm of electro-pop. With a raucous but melodic beat, Tears takes the listener back to that era.

Sailor & I is a metaphor for the idea of having different multiple selves, and in particular Sjödin (the artist's real name) believes that two driving forces live within himself. This persona has existed ever since 2012, when he released hist first global release Tough Love, an EP that led him to hold a number of international shows. He would later end up releasing three more EPs, and even a label of his own, Life and Death Records, and finally in 2016 he released his first album, The Invention of Loneliness.
All of this experience can be heard and felt in his latest song Tears, which you need to go give it a listen now. Also being influenced by house and soul and even balearic grooves, this is a track that plays with nostalgia and some classic sounds. It pushes the boundaries of what modern music is supposed to sound like, as it still has a bit of a retro flair.
