When in October 2009 Tim Walker's fantasy world encountered Tim Burton's childlike and oneiric realm for Harper's Bazaar, this could only turn a fashion editorial into a narrative artwork. That year indeed saw the first retrospective of the gothic-yet-adorable filmmaker at the MoMA in New York City. For the occasion Harper's Bazaar filled its October issue with diaphanous beauties, gangling creatures and Burton's most adorable monsters, turning the issue into the meeting point of Halloween, dark dreams, photography and the Seventh Art.
