The Candy effect strikes once again and this time for the very first time we were able to attend the launch party of the 4th Issue – The Extra Extravagance Issue – of the first transversal style magazine by cult editor Luis Venegas at Elena Benarroch flagship store in Madrid last thursday, May 31st.
After counting the days, hours, minutes and seconds we were able to admire Transhispania exhibition, a conceptual photoshoot by argentinian photographer Juan Gatti, best known by his graphic work in collaboration with film director Pedro Almodóvar since his early films in the 80s up to the present. A Candy report across the country to celebrate its grandeur mixing its icons and the new generations, past and present collide in this stunning portfolio gathering together all the Spanish possible forms of androgyny, cross-dressing, transvestism, transsexuality... but above all gathering together all the possible forms of transformation.
The portfolio reflects a landscape full of magical creatures, exotic dodos, cursed ravens and birds of paradise: Bibiana Fernández, Lucía Dominguín Bosé & Bimba Eleonora Bosé, Alaska & Mario Vaquerizo among the icons. David Herráez, Jordan Von Dage, Helena & Lucía Cuesta, Gonzalo Ortuño & Mitch Roscoe and myself among the new generations. They all have let their inner character out so Gatti the wizard was able to capture magical instants of pure honesty, dignifying their souls. The party was very reduced and only the characters in the portfolio and their closest friends were able to attend this cocktail where the photographs exhibited were on sale.
