Rcr Khomenko is a smart, storyteller, ironic and sustainable Ukrainian brand established by young designer Yasia Khomenko. Inspired by second-hand clothes and children’s fairy tales, Yasia works on creating a real mass-market of recycled clothes in Ukraine. Her strongest asset is the successful combination of clothes-making and storytelling. “I’m a storyteller rather than a businessman,” explains Yasia.
From her very childhood, Yasia has only been wearing second hand pieces, so up to now “giving second life to everything” is the harmonic way of life for the designer. That also stems from lack of money after graduation, as it was hard to make clothes and buy textile with no budget. Every collection of Rcr Khomenko is a fairy tale about a girl who got lost in the woods. Next season, Yasia wants to make the Church of Upcycling SS17 collection, which will make up the fourth part of that fairy tale and will combine both religious fanaticism and her passion for remaking clothes. We’ll keep an eye on it.
