Youth, beauty, carelessness, fun, disinhibition, cute guys. Swiss photographer Walter Pfeiffer has been portraying all these (and more) for more than thirty years and now, some of his best pictures are included in a solo exhibition at Sultana in Paris until January 26.
Sultana has been working with the Swiss photographer for over thirteen years, which means lots of exhibitions, art fairs, sales, etc. For example, the French gallery celebrated Pfeiffer’s 70th birthday at the end of 2016 with Send me no Flowers, an exhibition where his usual pretty boys shared the room with, well, pictures – and wallpapers – of flowers. The current exhibition, thought as a small retrospective, includes photos taken from the 1970s until now. By taking a look at them, it’s hard to know or differentiate which are which, proving how timeless Walter’s work is. This timelessness makes it very contemporary as well: in 2018, for example, he exhibited at the Barbican Centre in London or did a cover for the first issue of King Kong Garçon. So if you’re in Paris, pass by Sultana and discover the work of Pfeiffer, who’s sure to become a ‘classic’ in some years.
The exhibition by Walter Pfeiffer will be on view until January 26 at Galerie Sultana, 10 Rue Ramponeau, Paris.
