Despite the efforts of certain political and leading figures in denying and minimizing the effects of climate change, the scientific community insists on the very little time we have to save our planet. Because of that, the fashion industry, one of the most polluting in the world, is shifting towards a more responsible approach. That’s why Camper has just presented its newest collaboration with another Spanish brand, Ecoalf, which has been producing garments and accessories from recycled materials since 2009. As part of the Camper Together line, they’ll produce the lightweight version of the emblematic Pelotas shoe model.
With one hundred per cent recycled nylon uppers, laces and linings, the new version of Pelotas will feature “innovative fabric and thread sourced from recovered plastic bottles, fabric scraps, and post-industrial waste”. In so doing, Camper presents it’s most environmentally-friendly shoe to date, which proves the brand’s social compromise. Not only that, it also shows its aim “to consistently find innovative new ways to minimize its impact without sacrificing its high-quality standards”. For each pair sold, Camper will donate two euros to Ecoalf Foundation, a project “that works with fishermen in Spain and Thailand to recover and recycle plastic ocean waste”. These new Pelotas are already available online and on selected Camper and Ecoalf stores.
