If Nancy Sinatra sang These Boots are Made for Walking, someone should release a track with the lyrics “these shoes are made for dancing”. But before that happens, we can enjoy the music that Lafawndah has created for the Spring/Summer 2018 campaign of Kenzo Move, the sneaker with an embroidered tiger rescued from the brand’s archive that is now available in five new colours. With choreographies by duo I Could Never Be A Dancer, and directed by 5fruits collective, the video features an heterogenic casting of people who show their unique dancing skills while proving that the sneaker adapts to any movement.
Light grey, dark blue, pink, red orange, and yellow are the five new colours coming this season. The original chromatic palette – red, royal blue, navy and black – has been expanded, but the sneaker remains the same: cool, with Kenzo’s emblematic tiger, and very comfortable. To prove so, the Paris-based brand did a global casting call looking for dancers from different fields and nationalities to avoid categories or limits. The result has turned out to be something quite special: a handful of individuals incarnate the new colours through movements and dance, which can’t be labelled as ballet, hip-hop, or modern – because beauty means variety. Can you think of a better way to start the year than this?
